Cefin A Rhian RobertsCyfarfu Cefin a Rhian tra’n crwydro eisteddfodau lleol a chenedlaethol. Roeddan nhw’n cael gwersi canu gan yr un hyfforddwr ac yn ddiweddarach daeth y ddau yn aelodau o Gôr yr hen Sir Gaernarfon dan arweiniad y diweddar Haydn Davies. Tra’n cystadlu yn erbyn ei gilydd yn ystod eu harddegau daethant hefyd  yn ddeuawd lwyddiannus, a dyna pryd y blodeuodd y bartneriaeth. Aeth y ddau i astudio Cymraeg a Cherddoriaeth yng Ngholeg y Drindod, Caerfyrddin ac yna aeth Cefin yn ei flaen i wneud cwrs actio yng Ngholeg Cerdd a Drama, Caerdydd.

Wedi cyfnod yn gweithio gyda Cwmni Theatr Cymru, cyflwyno, dysgu a hyfforddi sefydlodd y ddau y grwp poblogaidd “Hapnod” yn yr wythdegau cynnar. Darlledodd y grwp dair cyfres adloniant ysgafn pan oedd S4C yn ei fabandod ac aethant ymlaen i gynrychioli Cymru yn yr Indigenous People’s Celebration yn Toronto ym 1981. Fe weithiodd y ddau fel actorion ac athrawon tan ddiwedd yr wythdegau ond yn dal i goleddu’r freuddwyd o agor eu hysgol berfformio eu hunain.

Cefin and Rhian first met when they competed as soloists in local and national eisteddfodau. They both had lessons with the same vocal coach in Caernarfon and later they both became members of the county choir of the old Caernarfonshire under the baton of the late Haydn Davies. Whilst competing against each other during their teenage years they also became a very successful duet team and that was when their partnership blossomed. They both studied Welsh and Music at Trinity College, Carmarthen,  and Cefin then went on to study acting at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

In the early eighties they formed a very popular close harmony group called Hapnod. They recorded three light entertainment series for S4C and represented Wales at the Indigenous People’s Theatre Celebration in Toronto in 1981. They both worked as actors and teachers up until the late eighties but always had a dream of starting their own school.
